Stream punk butterflies

Good afternoon everyone. Hope you are all well. I have not posted for a while for which I you have my apologies.  I have spent my time entering all my stock on my website (www.craftyneeds.com) which I have been building up.  I am slowing getting there but did realize how long it takes.  Well I am getting there.  I have many more items to add including Co-ordinates paper stacks, sandy blocks etc.  I will soon be adding new stamps from Chocolate Baroque.  This brings me to the rubber stamping workshop I ran last week using one of Chocolate Baroque stamps.

This beautiful image was stamped using black archival ink pad. The clock in the corner was embossed using a mask though a embossing machine.  I used Pinflair Gentle Blends to colour the background and in the top and bottom corner I used gilt cream though a mask which gave it a raised effect. The image was coloured using Derwent Inktense Pencils.

Last Friday we had Pro-marker workshop.  This time we used a Kenny K digital stamp. A perfect card for any teenager.

I am off to the Make It Craft Fair at Farnborough tomorrow. Can't wait.  Hope to get lots of inspiration.

Pro-marker workshop

Here I am again.  I am keeping my blog updated. Are you impressed!

I have had a busy and fun week with the workshops and also learning myself.  Tuesday evening I ran a pro-marker workshop for ladies who were not confident with how to use pro-markers.  They all were enthusiastic and full of questions which was really refreshing. to pass on tips and techniques. The cards that we used was a digital image as shown below.

Friday Afternoon Pro-marker Workshop

Friday afternoon was also pro-marker workshop but with the regular ladies.  This time I used a digital image by Jade Dragonne - jadedragonne.deviantart.com. If you do not know this site, it is worth taking a look. There are some beautiful digital images that can be used. I am sure you will agree this oriental lady is very elegant and makes a lovely topper.  Really enjoyed colouring her.

The pro-marker pens I used was Oasis & Cool Aqua for the dress, Starfish and Tequila Sunrise for the other parts of the dress, flowers etc.  For the hair I used Cool Grey 2, 4 & 5. For the skin tone I used Ivory & Satin.

The black card was a download from silhouette and ten cut on my Cameo. I placed orangey red card behind to match the orange colours I used within the dress etc.

Fun Day at Applejack Crafts

On Wednesday I went along with Lynn Courtney and Sue Tedeschi to see  Liz Black from Applejack Crafts.  Along with myself we all love the Jo Sonja acrylic paints.  Liz is a friend of Lynn so we were invited along to have a play and learn some new techniques. We had a fabulous day and cannot wait to share these techniques within my workshops.  Liz also runs workshop and is a brilliant teacher.  Her website is www.http://www.applejackcrafts.com. She has also a gallery so you can see her wonderful work.

Forthcoming Workshops

If you are not already aware, myself and Lynn will be arranging to hire halls in different areas to teach the different techniques on using the Jo Sonja Paints and their mediums, so please keep on eye on further posts when these dates are advertised.  Lynn is the wholesaler of these paints so also has an extensive knowledge.  Exciting times.  Can't wait to tell you more.

Website

I have also been busy updating the website www.craftyneeds.com.  I have many more items to be added so it is worth keep checking back to see what bargains I have added.  If you like your decoupage,  at the moment, all non die cut decoupage is selling for as little as 26p per sheet.  I have also started listing the Jo Sonja paints.  All of these paints should be online by the middle of next week, however, you only have to email me about any of the products and I will only be too happy to help.  One of the other products we have listed is the MDF. Perfect to use with the paints.  These items are manufactured by my husband and therefore will always be in stock.  We have new items to be added very soon.

Stamping Gear Workshop

Hi everyone. What a damp miserable day.  So I thought I would share with you what a great day at Crafty Needs rubber stamping club yesterday.  We also has a special guest who was fantastic and her colouring and stamping abilities are so good and she is only 5 years old.  She even coped with the stamping gear with a little help from her Nanny but insisted she wanted to do most of the techniques on her own.  A true crafter in the making.

Look at her finished card. Amazing! It is not surprising she won her colouring competition at school the other day.

Above is the card which the girls used to make their cards.  The finished card is 8 x 8.  The card on the front was slightly smaller.  The pattern was made using the small circle cog and using two smaller of the stamp designs to achieve the lace effect design.  The shading was achieved by using distress inks. The circle and scalloped black circle was cut using the silhouette. The stamped image is a Nellie stamp and was coloured using flex markers but the dress was coloured using the distress ink, which was placed onto a tile and then used with a paint brush and water.  The flowers and leaves were cut using the Britannia Dies.  A really pretty card, ideal for Mother's day, birthday or a thank you card. Hope you enjoy seeing this card.  We all enjoyed making it.

Poppies

Hi everyone.  Another awful day, I just hope the people that are suffering with the floods at the moment and safe.

Well I said I would post again, so here I am with another card I made recently for one of the rubber stamping workshops.  The stamp is from 'Stamps by Chloe'. Is perfect to use with the pro-markers or any other alcohol pens you may have. I have used pro-markers this time and distress inks for the background after I used a embossing folder to give some more dimension. the puzzle pieces were cut using the silhouette.  I think this card would be great for 'Mothers Day'.  Mum If you have seen this card, please forget you have seen it! :)  Jeanette x

Play Time

Hi everyone.  I thought it was about time I posted again.  I have been busy and have a few items I would like to tell you about, so here goes......

Before Christmas, during the workshops the girls and I made some last minute Christmas cards using the indigo Blu rubber stamps.  Along with the Chocolate Baroque stamps, I love using there stamps.  likely the girls in the workshops think so too. :) I hope you like it.

Another favourite of mine is using the Jo Sonja Acrylic paints.  You can get some great affects from these.  I have recently decided to decorate a mirror from Ikea. I used napkins for the picture and the Jo Sonja paints and crackle mediums to get the distressed affect.  The flowers were made by painted some card and die cutting the shapes.  The bird cage was cutting using my favourite piece of equipment, silhouette. (Well all my craft stuff is my favourite really!)  The back of the frame I used a sticky backed velvet.  I hope you like it

I also have been busy updating my website.  There are many items on there that have been discounted by 65%.  If you love decoupage there are sheets for as low as 25p.  Well worth stocking up.  I will be adding more items each day, so if you have the time it is well worth keeping a check on what is new.  I have also new lower prices for the Eureka Craft Templates.  These are durable, waterproof and hard wearing poly prop templates.  Once you have one of these, they will last a life time.  Gives your cards that added dimension and give your recipients the element of  surprise.  Website address is www.craftyneeds.com.

More posting very soon, I promise... Jeanette :)

Workshop Lits

I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas & Father Christmas has been good to you.  How many of you had crafting goodies.  I did not receive any but was given money so guess what I will be purchasing because I have no way nearly enough. :)

It is that time again to give you the new time table for the workshops that will be taking place during January until May.  I hope you will find a workshop of interest to you.  The ladies who attend the workshops each week are wonderful, friendly ladies and are eager to share crafting knowledge with you.  We would all love to see new members attend.  If you wish to attend please just call on the above number or email me.  It is a great time to have some me time and go away with a completed project.  All materials are included.  All you need to bring along is a basic tool kit and for pro-markers, your pens if you have any. Don't worry if you don't own any. I have nearly all the colours.

As well as the regular workshops I run an all day workshop using either Jo Sonja Acrylic paints for home décor or using Eureka Craft templates to make 3 dimensional cards or gift items. If you would like to attend any of these workshops I would advise you book your place early as there is only 5 places available.  Pictures of the cards and workshops can be found on the website or blog. (For further information on the Jo Sonja Paints please have a look at the website.)

I also have some exciting news!!  I will be joining forces with Lynn Courtney (Formerly owner of Flutterby Crafts) to run craft workshops regularly though out the year at different locations around the country. The workshops will include using Jo Sonja Acrylic Paints and other different mediums.  There will also be a pop up shop.  The first workshop is at the end of March 2014 at the 1st Scouts Hut in Twyford, Berkshire.  In the meantime, if you know of any locations that you know of that is ideal to run these workshops or you would like it to happen near you, then we will be please to hear from you.  Further details will be sent to you very soon so please watch this space!!!

I hope I can look forward to seeing some of you at the workshops. In the meantime Happy New Year. I hope it is a happy & healthy one.
