Fusable Butterfly!

One of the workshops recently was of the butterfly card shown below.  The inspiration came when I ordered the wrong size butterfly die (not good with measurements. lol) and remembering some of the ladies had asked to use shimmer film and fibre.  So I put them together and came up with the 'Fusable Butterfly'.

The background of the card wa created by first taking a piece of cream card 14 cm x 14 cm. It was embossed using a square embossing folder and then shaded using pan pastels.  On the bottom left hand corner a word stamped image was used using brown momento ink. Before this was stamped it was first stamped onto a piece of scrap paper so the wording did not stamp too dark on the card.  In the same corner a floral stamp from Chocolate Baroque was used, again in brown momento ink.  White embossing powder was used in the corners and then gold guilding cream was used to go around the edges.  This was then layered onto a piece of dark pink card and then stuck onto the main cream card.

The Butterfly was made using fusable film and fibre.  Two layers of the film were used, slightly larger than the butterfly. Fibre was loosely spread out inbetween the two layers of film.  These layers were then placed inbetween parchment or baking paper and with a warm/hot dry iron, ironed over the top.  This fuses the layers together.  The butterfly die was then placed ontop and put though the die cutting machine.  The wings of the butterfly was then curled slightly and stuck down onto the background leaving the gaps underneath the butterfly.

To finish off, dries clear glue was used on the body of the butterfly and some of the flowers on the background and seed beads from Stix 2 was used.  Glitter glue was also added to the bottom of the wings.

I hope you like the card.  The girls really enjoyed making it.
